Plumley leads Saints through day one of Yellow Jacket Invitational

ASHLAND, Va. – The Marymount University women's swimming team began its weekend on Friday night at the first day of the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Randolph-Macon College, sitting sixth overall with 166 points.

Senior Taylor Plumley led the way for the Saints through the first day of action, taking second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:18.11.

She also teamed with classmate Claire Cassidy and juniors Hayley Elizondo and Jessie Bricker to finish sixth in the 400-yard medley relay. They finished in 4:11.56, racing almost 35 seconds faster than their best time this season.

The Saints also finished eighth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Cassidy, Elizondo, Bricker, and junior Isabel Grimm earned the spot with a time of 1:44.06, also marking the best time on the year.

Cassidy and Grimm also earned two of the Saints' top individual finishes on the day. Cassidy finished 16th in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.59, while Grimm took 16th in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.21 seconds, setting a new career best.

Freshmen Madeline DeMarco and Kahley Alteri set career-best times in the 50 free, as well, with times of 28.01 and 28.88 seconds, respectively.

The Saints will continue in day two of the Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday, December 1.
