LANCASTER, Pa. – Freshman Katie McShea, of the Marymount University women's basketball team, earned her second Atlantic East Conference Player of the Week award, the league announced on Monday.
The honor brings her season total to three Atlantic East weekly awards, as she was also named the Player of the Week on February 4 and the Defensive Player of the Week on December 21.
McShea posted two 20-plus-point games to lead the Saints in two victories over the past week to lock up the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic East tournament.
She scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to record her ninth double-double of the season, as the Saints defeated Wesley College 64-31.
McShea followed that with a 23-point game on 64.3 percent shooting in the team's 66-50 win over Cabrini University to secure its spot in the conference tournament. She added six rebounds, as well, to go with a steal and a block.
The Saints earned a first-round bye in the conference tournament as the top seed and will host a semifinal contest on Wednesday, February 20. Their opponent and game time are to be determined.
