DANBURY, Conn. – Freshman Katie McShea, of the Marymount University women's basketball team, was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South Rookie of the Month for the second time this season, earning the honor for January, the league announced on Thursday.
McShea continued her impressive first season in blue and white, scoring in double-figures in seven of the Saints' eight games in January.
She registered two double-doubles in back-to-back games against Cabrini University (17 points, 15 rebounds) on January 23 and Neumann University (13 points, 13 rebounds) on January 26. She also notched a career-high three blocks against the Knights.
In the month, she averaged 13.4 points and nine rebounds per game.
McShea currently is tied for first on the team with 15.1 points per game and leads the team with 9.3 rebounds per game on the year.
The Saints will travel to Marywood University for an Atlantic East Conference contest on Saturday, February 9 for their next game; the opening tip is set for 1 p.m.
