LANCASTER, Pa. – The Marymount University women's basketball team swept the Atlantic East Conference weekly awards, as junior Gabriella Haddad was named the league's Player of the Week, and sophomore Aidan Phillips was honored as the Defensive Player of the Week.
The duo helped the Saints to a 2-0 week with Atlantic East wins over Immaculata University and Marywood University.
Haddad led the team with 17 points and finished second with seven rebounds in the team's 64-40 win over the Mighty Macs. She converted on 7-of-15 of her shots, while also adding an assist and a steal. She then tallied 10 points and tied for the team lead with six rebounds against the Pacers.
For the week, Haddad shot 46 percent from the floor and scored 3-of-4 of her free-throw attempts.
Phillips led the defensive effort against Marywood with a career-high six steals. She also added one block and pulled down three rebounds, all defensive. She also scored a career-high 10 points in the game.
Against Immaculata, she added another two steals and two rebounds, to go with six points.
The awards mark the first-ever Atlantic East weekly awards for both Haddad and Phillips.
The Saints return to action on Saturday, January 19 at Wesley College in Atlantic East action; the opening tip is set for 12 p.m.
