Box Score Emory, Va. – Marymount University's women's soccer squad dropped its final match of the weekend on Sunday as host Emory & Henry unraveled the Saints with a pair of second half tallies. Marymount slips to 0-4-1 with the loss.
The contest saw a relentless back-and-forth unfold as both teams unloaded 13 shots in total. Though the Saints proved more accurate with their strikes, Emory & Henry netminder Kayla Wright remained an indomitable force between the pipes.
It was Daishi Dudley who proved to be the Saints ultimate undoing in the second half. Dudley used a timely rebound and a close-quarters strike to break the stalemate in the 64th minute, but the 1-0 advantage was not enough for her. A corner kick later found Dudley in the six-yard box, allowing her to push a header just beyond the reach of Marymount goalkeeper Holly Wenger in the 78th minute, capping the day's scoring efforts at 2-0.
Marymount continues its nonconference bout on Wednesday when it travels to Eastern Mennonite for a 7 p.m. match. Live stats for the contest can be found at http://bit.ly/1AnhkhF.
