Box Score Frostburg, Md. – The Saints could not solve the puzzle that was Frostburg State on Friday night, firing off only two shots against a very solid Bobcat defense. The host poured in two second-half scores to swipe the 2-0 decision, dropping Marymount to 0-4 in CAC action and 1-10-1 on the year.
Marymount netminder Holly Wenger collected ten saves in a busy day between the pipes, though Frostburg State forward Stephanie Fazenbake proved the goalie's ultimate kryptonite.
Fazenbake scored not once, but twice for the Bobcasts, breaking the stalemate in the 54th minute on a ball from Erin Worthman. Worthman sent a cross into the middle box at about the six-yard mark, finding Fazenbake in stride for the easy finish.
With the 1-0 advantage pocketed, Frostburg State kept the pressure on and found its second goal just 15 short minutes later. This time it was Melanie Bell that found Fazenbake uncovered just outside the keeper's box, allowing the forward to double her scoring efforts in the 69th minute.
The 2-0 deficit would plague the Saints for the game's few remaining ticks.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Salisbury in CAC action. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Long Bridge Park.
