Dr. Ellis enters her fourth year as the Faculty Athletics Representative for the Saints in 2018-19.
“I believe that athletics play an important role in many students’ experience at Marymount,” said Ellis, an associate professor of criminal justice and chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. “Students develop life skills and learn a lot through commitment to both athletics and academics.”
An avid cyclist, runner and equestrian, Ellis appreciates the time and commitment it takes to be a college athlete.
“I enjoy working with and getting to know the student-athletes,” she said. “When the position became available, I decided this role could be a great way for my service to the university to align with my interest in sports.”
She looks forward to learning more about the NCAA principles and working with the athletics department and Director of Athletics Jamie Reynolds to ensure that Marymount continues to meet the highest standards for Division III athletics. She will also represent Marymount in conference and NCAA affairs.
Ellis follows Dr. Liane Summerfield, who held the FAR post for 17 years and was just honored in the Spring of 2016 with admittance into the Marymount Athletic Hall of Friends.
