Cordrey Totals Career-High 10 Kills in Loss at No. 22 Christopher Newport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Marymount women's volleyball freshman Myah Cordrey posted a career-high 10 kills and a .214 hitting percentage, but the Saints were hampered by 25 attack errors as they were swept at No. 22 Marymount on Saturday inside the Freeman Center, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19.

Marymount (7-8, 0-2 CAC) hit just .041 as a team while committing four service errors and four reception errors.

Freshman Jasmine Roy totaled 14 digs, one shy of her career high, while freshman Maggie Viniard added 11, her fourth match with at least 10 digs this season. Junior Celine Nguyen had 10 kills which was also her fourth match with at least 10 digs this year.

Viniard added 14 assists while senior Christy Tieman had 12. Freshman Mykael Johnson totaled four kills and six digs.

The Captains (15-3, 2-0 CAC) were led by Katie Piper who had 13 kills and six digs. Abby Oren had nine kills while Katelyn Newsome added seven as the trio combined for 29 of the team's 39 kills.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday with a nonconference contest at Washington (Md.) beginning at 7:00 p.m.
