ESSEX FELLS, N.J. – A great year in the pool for the Marymount (Va.) University women's swim team follows up with the recognition deserved for what has been done in the classroom, as the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) named the women's team a Scholar All-America squad.
Sporting a 3.13 grade-point average as a team this past Spring semester, the Saints make another appearance on the prestigious list after earning a spot in the Fall semester with a 3.27 GPA. They join 720 teams of men and women's teams against all Divisions who achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Of the 17 student athletes on the women's swim team, nine eclipsed the 3.0 barrier in the Spring, including six that were higher than a 3.75.
The CSCAA founded in 1922, makes it the longest running coaches association in the United States of America. The CSCAA is a combination of swimming and diving coaches dedicated to the advancement of swimming and diving at the collegiate level. In the spring of 2017 the CSCAA will once again honor the collegiate swimming and diving teams for their academic accomplishments as a team.
