GREENWOOD, Ind. – Not only did the Marymount (Va.) University women's lacrosse team have a successful year on the field this season, but again, it had a successful year in the classroom. The Saints earned an individual recognition to prove that success, seeing junior captain Kellen Cannon earn a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team.
A midfielder for the Saints, Cannon made her way onto her first collegiate Academic All-District team with an impressive 3.96 cumulative grade-point average while working toward a degree in Health Sciences with a Pre-Physical Therapy concentration.
Of the 10 Division III athletes that were selected to the First Team in District 5, Cannon boasts the second highest GPA, trailing just one tennis player from Washington & Lee who posted a 4.0.
The Milton, Delaware native had another great year on the field for the Saints, registering 36 points off 30 goals and six assists. Additionally, she collected 39 draw controls, 10 ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Cannon was a critical piece to the women's lacrosse team's success this season, as they went on to post the program's most wins in a single season with 13 along with notching the program's first ECAC Championship with an 11-3 victory over Misericordia University in the title game.
Cannon returns for her senior season in 2018.
