Trio of Saints place top 10; Women's golf takes second at Gettysburg Fall Invitational

ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. – A trio of Saints placed in the top 10 Saturday at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational, helping the Marymount women's golf team to a second-place finish after carding a team score of 367 (+75). 

Played at the Hanover Country Club with a handful of opponents in the Centennial Conference including reigning league champion, Gettysburg College, the Saints had three golfers finish in the top 10 of the 42 total competitors. The only school that Marymount fell short to by just seven strokes was Stevenson University, while beating out third-place Gettysburg by just two strokes. 

Leading the way was junior Alessandra Bertacche with a third-place finish, missing the top spot by just four strokes. Bertacche carded an 86 (+13), marking her fourth-straight tournament in the Fall season where she finished in the top four. 

Junior Brandie Hartzell and senior Alexis Miller tied for ninth for the Saints, each putting in rounds of 89 (+16). It marks Hartzell's highest finish of the season so far. 

Seniors Courtney VanWie and Rebecca Rizy rounded out the Saint squad with 26th and 31st, respectively. 

The women will tee off in their final event of the Fall slate on Saturday, October 21, traveling to Carlisle, Pennsylvania for the Red Devil All-American Classic held at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Course.
