Saints place second in Stevenson Invitational

UPPERCO, Md.— The Marymount (Va.) University women's golf squad teed off at the Stevenson Invitational at the Piney Branch Golf Club on Monday afternoon. After collectively shooting 368 (+84), the team placed second in a field of six teams.

Sophomore Brandie Hartzell paced the Saints after carding a score of 87 (+16), tying for fourth with several other golfers in a field of over 20. Hartzell finished just six strokes behind the number one golfer for the day. Sophomore Alessandra Bertacche finished just five strokes behind Hartzell, with a score of 92 (+21), placing ninth overall.

Junior Alexis Miller tied for 10th place after shooting 94 (+23). Senior Nicole Brickwedde shot a score of 95 (+24), to finish 12th.

Junior Courtney VanWie and senior Elizabeth Connelly rounded out the blue and white with scores of 109 and 117, respectively.

Host Stevenson University took first place after collectively shooting 357 (+73). Gettysburg College's Katie McCarthy took first individually, after carding a score of 81 (+10).

The women will round out the 2016-17 season at the Hollins Spring Invitational on Sunday, April 9 for a two-day event.
