Three Saints move up program Top 10; Men's swimming takes seventh at Yellow Jacket Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – Three Saints moved their way up the program's Top-10 list over the weekend, while helping the Marymount men's swim team to a seventh-place team finish at the two-day Yellow Jacket Invitational with 617 points.

Junior Isaiah Jones and sophomores Zachary Payne and Tedd Pham continued to impress this season, making moves in the Top 10 for the program in six different events.

Jones moved from seventh to a tie for fourth in the 100-yard freestyle after touching the wall on Saturday in 48.09 for eighth place. He currently sits tied with alum Brian Tinsman who notched the same time back in February 15, 2009.

Payne made moves in three different events for the most productive weekend. He kicked off the Invitational by beating his current Top 10 time in the 200-yard freestyle that he set last year at the Yellow Jacket Invitational by just .07 seconds. He notched a time of 1:47.50 to remain in sixth in program history.

He followed it up in the 100-yard back, taking fifth place in the event with a time of 53.42 to move into the Top 10 all the way to third. He sits just behind Thomas Brierly and Ross Wiley who set the top-two times on the same day in 2015 at the CAC Championships.

His final Top-10 time came in the 200-yard fly, posting a time of 1:59.49 to take over the sole fifth position that he sat tied in with his last time of 2:00.28.

Pham produced two moves in the program, starting out with his biggest jump in the 100-yard breast. He moved five spots from his recent time set back on November 17, notching a time of 1:00.49 to sit fourth in program history.

He concluded the Invitational with the 200-yard breast, again bettering his time from November 18 to 2:14.53, good enough to move him from fifth to fourth in the Top 10.

Below is a list of the individual Top-10 finishes through the three-session event:

The Saints now take a month hiatus from competition, returning in 2018 for a CAC matchup at the University of Mary Washington on January 15.
