Halftime draw slides away from Saints in second half

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount men's soccer team took York College of Pennsylvania into the second half all knotted up at 1-1, but the Spartans put together a five-goal stretch to take the Capital Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon, 6-1.

York got out ahead early on, scoring in the 17th minute in what played out to be a chippy matchup the full 90 minutes. But before the end of the half, the Saints answered.

With the ball on the left side approaching the goal, junior Mynor Danilo Lopez dialed a shot in at the York goalkeeper. Deflected off his mits, the ball went toward the back post where junior Sebastian Hendi followed through for the open-net finish and the 1-1 tie.

Unfortunately, the Spartans heated up in the second half, finding the back of the net five times, while the Saints got off just one shot.

Sophomore John Valcicak tended the net for MU for the full 90 minutes, making seven saves.

The Saints will look to rally back on Wednesday, October 4, as they head to Wesley College for another CAC tilt. First touch is slated for 7 p.m., in Dover, Delaware.
