Men's golf finishes third at UMW's Inaugural Eagle Invitational

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.— The Marymount (Va.) University men's golf squad rounded out day two of the University of Mary Washington's Inaugural Eagle Invitational at the Augustine Golf Club on Sunday afternoon. After shaving seven strokes off their day-one score, the Saints clenched a third-place finish with a total score of 699 (+131). 

Freshman John David Coffin finished tied for ninth after shooting 78-84 through the two-day event. Junior Erik Timlin carded a score of 81 (+10) in both rounds to tie Coffin for ninth-place.

Sophomore Daniel Stone tabbed a 13th-place finish after shooting 185 (+43). Senior Gannon White improved by 14 strokes after carding a score of 88 (+16) on day two, earning a 14th-place finish.

North Carolina Wesleyan remained in first after collectively shooting 599 (+31). North Carolina Wesleyan's David White paced the competition, shooting 148 (+6), through the two-day event.

The men's squad will now travel to the Poplar Grove Golf Course in Poplar Grove, Virginia, for the two-day Lynchburg Invitational, starting on Monday, March 27.
